Many Personal Video Recorders (PVRs) on the market today are unable to
record or playback programs that are broadcasted in high definition (HDTV).
In light of the fact that standard definition TV will soon be obsolete, it
makes good sense to spend the extra money and purchase a HD PVR unit.
In many countries, governments have already set deadlines for
broadcasters to transmit only in high definition. Soon, standard
definition televisions will be as passé as the black-and-white TV set.
PVRs that can't record high definition will be equally obsolete.
The costs of High Definition sets have plummeted in recent years while the
quality of HDTV sets have dramatically improved. For more information
